My first game on the Wii

I don't get to watch tv very often.  Mommy says it'll rot my brain.  I'm also not that interested in it.  But tonight, Daddy decided to bust out the Wii again (we go in waves of usage) and he went bowling.  I love to chew on a good WiiMote. The rubbery case around it is so chewy and feels good on my teeth.  But tonight, I didn't want to chew it, I wanted to play the bowling game.  Mommy even came down while making dinner and took a couple of pictures.  Daddy had to help me throw the ball but I did a whole game with his help (even though I lost interest after about 4 frames.)  Here are some pictures of the momentous occasion.

Here's a picture of my Mii (the names of the characters on a Wii are called Mii's.)  My Mii is named  Biin (Bean) and then there's also Momii and Daddii.  Mama and Daddy had a fun time making the Mii's look like all of us and naming them fun names.  After bowling Daddy decided that Biin should have some more hair since I'm no longer a baldy!  If you look in the background of the bowling alley "Momii" (orange shirt keeping score) and "Gramii" (black shirt, short hair) are there too.  That's the neat thing about the Wii.  Once you make a Mii they show up in all the games, even if you're not using them to play.  Out of all of our Mii's "Dadii" is definitely the most realistic looking. 

In the end I scored a 112!!!  I celebrated by giving my Helzberg bear a big hug!

Mrs. Claus visits Mr. Claus

Today Mama took me to the mall to meet with Santa Claus.  I saw him yesterday and he came over and talked to Elliot and I.  He was really nice and I even gave him a high five.  So today, Mama though I was ready to meet him and maybe even sit on his lap.  At first I did the "reach out" for mama, but once I got my Monkey all was good.

PS The monkey is new and really deserves it's own blog posting...details on "monk" to come later.

Mommy said something about liking "casual santa" from last year better, but I didn't really get it.  I heard something about Authentic but then I was off and running so I didn't really pay much attention.

Daddy came with Mommy and me to ECFE today.  It was my last class for the semester.

Yes, I still have a bit of a black eye.  I'm getting better though, my mouth is almost completely healed.

Babies 1st...

Black EYE! Sadness. :(

The teeth look ok today, but the eye is black and the side of her face is swollen. I could just cry when I look at her. She woke up this morning with a little dried blood on her face and a few spots on her sheets. I'm sure she will continue to be oblivious to her surroundings and kind of klutzy, but I'm still hoping she will be more careful in the future.

On the bright side, she got her first visit to the dentist out of the way and we had added her to our family coverage when she was born, so there's no work involved.

Oh, and isn't her hair getting long? People have asked me if we'll be cutting it and the answer is HECK NO! As long as she's ok about keeping the clips in her hair (so I can keep it out of her eyes) I think we'll leave it. I'd like it to stay curly. As many of you know, when my mom cut my curly tendrils for the very first time (right before Kindergarten) it WENT STRAIGHT...(for like a decade!) So, we're keeping it curly and in her face for now. When she's old enough to protest, then we'll talk. For the time being, we use lots of detangler and only comb it out once per day (sounds just like my hair.)

Ok, I need to head to bed. I'm quite sick and miserable right now. I've been this way since Thursday and I need to be better by tomorrow night because I hate planning for a sub in my night classes (plus, it's the last night of class so I should really be there with something fantastic planned!)

More snuggly time

I don't know why Mommy is so shocked whenever I get snuggly.  I guess she must think since I'm so rarely snuggable (or still long enough to snuggle) that when I do it's really a "Kodak moment."  Here I was today with Papa.

Massage Time

Mommy was very surprised when I started massaging Grammy's back this morning.  Doesn't she know that it feels so good?  I love it when she rubs my back and feet so I thought I would share the love.

After I finished, I had to give Grammy a little hug and a snuggle.

My NEW WHEELS

I got an early Christmas gift from Grammy & Papa...a NEW CAR!!!!  It's awesome and waaaaay cooler than the ones at ECFE.  Mine plays loud music and is cute girly colors (much to Mama's dismay.)

Papa had to put it together first.

Grammy was helping me go forward.  I can go backwards really well, but not forward yet.

Taking Baby Stella for a ride too.  They don't have car seat laws for Cozy Coupe's.

It has not been a good day...

Misty here...today was going to be a super day. I had an early morning dentist appointment and then we were going to be off to playtime. It didn't work out so well.

While I was at the dentist this morning I was talking with my hygenist about when to bring Lauren in for her first appointment. She repeated the same old stuff I already knew (what the AAP suggests) but then said that they typically like to see kids in around the age of 2. Sweet, 'we still have time,' was my thought.

Nope, no more time.

After I got home from an excellent check-up, I showered and Lauren was in an excellent mood (she slept until almost 8:30!!) While I was getting dressed, (I'll leave out the gory details of my various stages of dress) I heard a thud and a terror scream from Lauren (who was only a foot away from me.) She tripped and had fallen mouth first into the footboard of our bed. The metal footboard of our bed. As I rushed the one step to pick her up and console her the blood started gushing. I turned and sprinted with her the 3 feet to the bathroom, grabbed the first towel I saw (white wedding towels be damned) got it wet and tried to put it in her mouth to clean it up/see the damage/soothe the pain. Long story short, we ended up running back to my dentist as her pedi was unable to get her in (or any one of them for that matter) until the PM and that just wasn't acceptable to me.

So Lauren had her first trip to the dentist TODAY!

She was actually the calm on too (sadly!) I was a wreck but she was ok as could be once I got her a sippy cup of water. She was downright happy once she got her paci.

So after a breakdown in the dentist's office (they were all so nice to me the crazy mama) all is well. It looks like her two front teeth may have pushed up a bit back into her jawline but he wasn't concerned and said that with baby teeth they just leave them and they'll typically come back down on their own. It was red and I could tell it hurt but she was a trooper. The dentist said that they mouth heals quite fast and she should be just fine. AAAAHHHH!! This was not the way I wanted to spend the day, but it worked out in the end. Lauren even got to have some pudding and ice cream at lunch to soothe her mouth.

No pictures of Mommy with her in the dentist's chair though. I was a bit disheveled with wet hair and the first thing I could throw on. Luckily Lauren was still in her PJ's when it happened so none of her clothes were harmed (I can joke about it now, I know it wouldn't have mattered to me at the time.) I guess it's a good thing I try not to let her run around the house with random objects in her hands or who knows what could have happened.

Christmas stockings

Grandma Pat made me a Christmas stocking last year.  Mommy really liked it because it matched our Living room so well.  When she asked Grandma Pat to make some for the rest of the family, she was surprised to find out that she already had.  Check them out, they look awesome hanging over the ledge in the entryway.  Now Daddy is worried that if they have another baby (and yes, it's almost 2009, that COULD be a possibility) that child won't have a matching stocking.  Mama told him not to worry about it though.  She says Grandma Pat is so smart she's probably already got a stash of them just in case (or in hoping!)

Mommy took down the 20 x 30 family picture of us when they were working on the basement so it will get hung up again soon (once the newly updated pic arrives.)

They have neat little sparkly crystal letters on them.

 

Here's the new basement view.  The wall looks kind of empty without the big picture on it.

Here is Mommy's new and exciting Laundry room.  She painted the ceiling purple to match the accent wall (first time ever!!)  She's also anxiously awaiting the arrival of the wall decor, a new stainless drying rack and hamper to match the trash can.
