I'm a buzzzzing...

IMG_4674 Today was Halloween and Mommy and I have been looking forward to it for awhile now.  Mommy found my costume "on the cheap" as she calls it.  However, she then decided to spend a fortune for her and Daddy to have matching costumes to go with mine, so I don't think there was any "economic value" (or something like that, that I heard Daddy mumbling about.)

Grandma and Grandpa have been visiting since Wednesday because Grampy had surgery to repair a thumb that he hurt at work (it didn't bend anymore.)  He has a weird cast on his left hand.  Good thing he's right handed, Mommy says that he still has to work and earn his keep.  I have a feeling I'm going to be seeing a lot of them over the next month because he can't work for like 5 weeks and what else would they do with their time if they don't have to work?  See me of course!!!

So anyway, today we went to a Halloween party.  Then, we went to the mall to trick or treat indoors.  It was a lot of fun.  Check out our pictures.

After we got back from the mall we went to the houses in our cul-de-sac.  Last year Mommy and Daddy took my picture with all of the neighbors, but I didn't exactly cooperate with that idea this year.  I'm a mover and a shaker now and don't have time for that kind of stuff.

Our new next door neighbors have a niece that was born a few days after I was.  It turns out Mommy & Daddy were in birthing class together with her parents.  Too funny!  She was a chicken and a cute one too.  Mommy almost bought me that costume, so it was pretty funny.

Video time

Mommy made some videos of me today. One is me doing one of my favorite things....dancing. The other is me taking a (*rare*) moment of rest with daddy.

Auntie Kate, furniture & a goodbye

Today Auntie Kate (my Godmother) came to visit me.  When I saw her I ran up to her and said "Hi hi hi!"  Mommy was really impressed at the way I greeted her considering I hadn't seen her since my birthday party in July.  We also went furniture shopping (Mommy's looking at new bedroom furniture.)  Here are some pictures from today.

This year I barely fit in the pumpkin, I guess Mommy should have splurged for one of the huge ones.  You can't really tell it but this pumpkin was pretty big, just really thick, so I couldn't get in there.  Daddy took this picture, that's why there's more ceiling than pumpkin and Mommy forgot to take the picture off of Grandma's cell phone before she left today.  Mommy said I wasn't as scared as last year, but it certainly didn't look like I liked being in the pumpkin.  Oh well, maybe next year, huh?

A busy Saturday

Grandma, Grandpa, Mommy, Daddy and I spent a lot of time at a big store today.  They sold all sorts of things like lights, carpet, paint and wood there.  However, the best part of the store were all the toys I could play with in my own special area.  I especially liked the roller coaster ride they had.  Mommy said they sell them at Sam's Club and that she'll have to add it to my Christmas list for people who want to buy me something.

After spending a lot of time at the Menards store we went to lunch and then I took a long nap.  I also did a lot of playing and mommy made spaghetti for dinner.  Here are some fun and silly pictures from my fun day.

Playing with my laptop.  I like to hum and sway to the music.

Here's Daddy hiding from Mommy so he doesn't have to do the work that she asks him to do.  He does this a lot and I'm paying attention to it.  I guess that's what I'll try to do someday when I don't want to clean my room.  Grandma took this picture of him because Mommy was looking around for him and making dinner during this time (she couldn't find him.)

Grandma was helping Mommy clean up after dinner and she accidentally dropped the spoon full of spaghetti sauce on the newly cleaned kitchen floor.  Mommy said she had to laugh and take a picture because she had just told Daddy to wash up a couple of peaches I dropped on the clean floor.

Daddy Blogging: Lauren's unusual nap

Mommy decided to substitute teach a class tonight so it was just me and the baby tonight. Lauren was a little angel all night long, which is not what I was expecting. There was one thing she did that I just have to tell you about...she put herself down for a nap.

We were playing chase. That's a game where she chases me around the house and then I chase her around the house and we go back and forth like that. She was running pretty fast and she must have gotten tired because she ran into her bedroom and started trying to climb up the outside of her crib. I just figured that she wanted one of her blankets or something, so I took her down and she threw a fit. Usually when Lauren throws a fit, I back off and just let her do her thing. If you try to console her she often gets angrier. So when I backed off, she started climbing her crib again. So I said to her "Fine. If you want to get into your crib so badly, here you go." and I set her in her crib. What did she do? She picked up a pacifier and put it in her mouth, grabbed one of her small burp clothes that she likes to cuddle and layed herself down. I was shocked. So I turned on her CD of lullaby music, put a blanket over her, turned out the light and left. I couldn't believe it!

I don't know if she ever actually slept, but she stayed quiet for about 20 minutes. Maybe she just needed a time out after all the running around she had done.

Bangin' on my pots & pans

Mommy has locked all the cupboards but one now.  She said I can play with the stuff in this cupboard and boy have I ever been playing with it.  Check out my newest musical instruments.

Today I played with them for awhile and sang songs to the people working in our basement.

When the electrician left today he gave me a yummy treat.  It was a blueberry scone.  It was very good so I've asked Mommy to get some of them for me to have too.  I sure hope she does.

My sweetness

I wanted to write this post last night, and I suppose I could do what I've been known to do on occasion (backdate) but it just doesn't seem right on this occasion. Yesterday, was the one year anniversary of Lauren's baptism. When she was baptized our Priest stressed the importance of her baptismal date and suggested we remember it every year. So, on this day I'm looking back and remembering my tiny baby.

Just laying here in bed with my laptop looking back at pictures of little Lauren on that date have brought a barrage of feelings back (and lots of tears.) Sometimes, in the business of everyday I forget to take the time to enjoy my baby. Now, looking back, she's not exactly a baby anymore. She's not feeling well and I've been frustrated with her today because all she wants is to be held in my arms. What's so wrong with that? When I'm sick, my mom is sometimes the first person I call. There's nothing wrong with a baby wanting her mommy (no matter the age of said "baby.") Sometimes all it takes is a reminder from my mom, that I'm a mommy now too, to bring me back to where I need to be. Anyway, that's enough tear charged incoherent rambling for tonight, enjoy the vintage bean.

Bang Bang Bang

Mommy said there was a lot of banging and pounding and sawing going on in our house today. I don't exactly know what that means but there were lots of loud noises coming from the basement and people coming in and out of our house that I didn't know. Well I recognized one of them as Kevin (our old neighbor) but I didn't know the others. The people were at our house to work on our basement. Mommy said they were doing framework and electrical today and that they have a couple more hours of work to do tomorrow morning too.

I was sooooo sleepy this afternoon that I slept through what mommy called the jaw rattling noise. She was so happy to get a break from me. I don't feel good at all with my ear infections, sore throat, and 5 teeth coming in all at once.

Here are some pictures Mommy took of the basement progress tonight. I'll have Mommy make them real big so you can see all the details. PS Daddy came home early too, so I got to see him for a bit. Yaay!

IMG_4545

Here we are in the family room. Mommy complained a lot about the builders of the house and something about not having "Truss floors" and "ruined" (Mommy uses that word a lot Daddy says.) I don't know what she's talking about and she had to explain it to Daddy before too, so I don't feel too bad.

IMG_4546

Outside the two bedrooms. One of them is going to be the spare/mommy's office (she changed her mind again!!) and the other is going to be my playroom (I think she just wants all of my toys out of the living room.)

IMG_4547

Here we are in the spare/office room. Mommy had them wire the closet as she's got plans to put her desk, printer, and files into the closet. That way she can just shut the door and the mess will go away (and that way we'll always have a spare bedroom since Mommy and Daddy like it when people come to visit.)

Some days are better than others

Today was not one of those days. It always seems that whenever shit hits the fan, Kevin is completely unavailable. This was another one of those cases. He's OOT in Fargo this week and Lauren is not well. I ended up taking her in this am and it's a good thing I did as she has an ear infection. She's made it since April since the last one, which is always a good thing.

So, we ended up skipping her ECFE class today so we could relax before I had to go to the afternoon class. Lauren only napped for an hour (compared to her 4+ yesterday) and then I had to find a solution for the evening. Normally when Kev is oot I will just take her with to my evening classes. However, she is sick and I wouldn't take her along even if she isn't contagious because I crab about it and try to practice what I preach. So, she got to go over to Elliot's house. He also has a double ear infection, so it's not like they could get each other sick, since they both already are.

Anyway, it's 9:30 and I have two huge baskets of laundry to fold and contractors coming at 8am tomorrow morning to start pounding and other noisy activities. I'm going to bed and I don't feel bad.

Bean Jail

Mommy put me in Jail this afternoon.  She said, "I'm tired of you throwing the stuff I just folded.  Into jail you go."  My jail was the laundry basket.  It was kind of fun.

My smart Bean

Tonight I was giving Lauren her bath and she started to make the tooth brushing motion with her hands and look up at me like she was saying, "Mama, it's time!!!"  She's so smart!

Sunday Sunday

Misty here.... we had a busy Sunday.  Today was picture day for those of you who aren't in my everyday circle.  If you're in my everyday circle you know that I've been uber excited and talking about it nonstop for awhile now.  So, my friend Jessica from JM Photography came down from 'the Cities" to take our family pics and Lauren's 15 month pics (next WEEK! already!)  Lauren wasn't as cute as I know she can be, but Jess said we got some great shots so I'm freakishly hitting refresh on her blog waiting for our "preview" to pop up...  I spoke with Anna (Elliot's mommy) and she's been stalking Jess' blog too anxiously awaiting their session preview as well.

The reason I say Lauren wasn't as cute as I know she can be is due to the fact that she's not feeling well.  Her temp was about 100 this afternoon when we thought she was feeling a bit warmish.  As you know, I'm the kind of person who absolutely must assign blame to everything.  (I know it's a terrible habit, Kev reminds me of it often.)  I can't help but feel that she got this (whatever it is) from someone in her ECFE class as I've heard that a majority of the kids were sick with something this week.  Poor Elliot had a 103 degree fever yesterday and some other kids ended up with a fever and a rash.  I'm seriously SICK of people bringing sick kids to class (and to work!)

Ok, enough of my Mommy rage, here are some not so exciting pictures from today.  Lauren was a serious ankle biter today (needy, clingy, not giving a moments peace, etc. etc.)

IMG_4520

Trying to get into one of the childproofed drawers (she has defeated the locks once already!)

IMG_4522

In all of her ankle biting glory.  You can see the drool spot on the stool where she was whining at my feet just seconds earlier.

IMG_4525

We solved the ankle biting issue by burying her in pillows (haha only kidding, she seriously loves pillows though!)
